day twenty-seven
You Are
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20,21
Tonight we had dinner at Whole Foods with Felipe and Leigh Adams. Sitting rooftop looking out over the city, we talked about how Felipe is now the first full-time staff person at the Austin House of Prayer. Felipe is a great guy, easygoing and full of the peace that surpasses understanding, and we have known him for a few years. He is raising support to be there full-time, and spends about a third to half his time praying in the prayer room there. As Steve and I pray about how we can support him, my question is how can we not?
I can't imagine Austin without the Austin House of Prayer. It's a privilege to me to support a life of prayer, to encourage someone who is on their knees on behalf of our city. Who is raising up 24/7 prayer rooms in churches across Austin. The Austin House of Prayer needs more support.
Being around Felipe and other intercessors like him always stirs up my passion for prayer...and for my longstanding (4 1/2 years but who's counting) God-given passion/prayer for a 24/7 prayer room for the Austin Stone.
God is going to do it. He wants it.
...but do we want it? Do we hunger for it like He does?
I have to wonder...do we really believe in the power of prayer? The kind of prayer that you don't want to end in 2 minutes, the kind of prayer that has you on your face because His presence is so thick, the kind of prayer that attracts people to a prayer room from another part of the building because His Spirit is so tangible? The kind of prayer that God uses to heal people, restore churches, revive whole cities?
Louie Giglio recently wrote about a prayer time he witnessed in Seoul, Korea on Passion's blog. (see link below) Take the time to read it... and I pray the Holy Spirit speaks to your heart, inspires and reveals His heart of prayer.
His Kingdom come, His will be done, in our cities as it is in Heaven!
